BarrX is a treatment method for Barrett’s Esophagus, a condition caused by complications of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). BarrX is performed by a physician and is typically also performed in conjunction with an upper endoscopy. This outpatient procedure requires the patient to be sedated. Using the endoscope to identify the area that requires treatment, a BarrX ablation catheter is inserted into the esophagus to deliver energy to the abnormal tissue damaged by Barrett’s Esophagus or GERD. This procedure can help minimize or prevent abnormal or cancerous cells from developing in the esophagus.
