Liver Biopsy

Liver Biopsy at Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology Associates

A liver biopsy is the removal of a small sample of tissue from the liver. The sample is then tested for signs of various liver diseases or to determine the severity of a known liver disease. Liver biopsies may be taken percutaneously, through a needle in the skin; transvenously, through the blood vessels; or directly during abdominal surgery.
